YFLO Kolkata’s ‘Be Talented, Be You’, held at The Park recently, had actor-director R. Madhavan share nuggets about his life and work with the members of YFLO and the guests. The actor was in Kolkata to talk about his film Rocketry, with which he turned director. The Sea Hawks heart-throb engaged in an inspiring and candid conversation on various topics with Shilpa Sethi, chairperson, YFLO Kolkata.

He narrated some fascinating tales from his life, including his earlier days in Jamshedpur. The spontaneous and witty superstar also spoke in great details about his career in the movies starting from his first acting stint to his directorial debut in Rocketry. In the course of the discussion, he also shed light on the differences between Hindi and Tamil cinema based on his personal experiences while revealing how glad he is to have worked in both industries.

Apart from films, he also shared some parenting tips with over 230 people in the audience. According to him, keeping a child busy, having a good routine and a disciplined upbringing were key to realise their potential. He spoke about his son’s achievements and how it was important for the whole family to work together towards realising his goals.

Moving on to his new film Rocketry, Madhavan entertained the audience with some fun-behind-the-scene videos, explaining the hard work and the struggle behind making this film. The audience was enthralled by his descriptions of the work put in by the whole team to get him to look exactly like Nambi Narayanan, on whose life the film is based.

“The talk with Madhavan was enriching. From relatable points on parenting to telling us about his initial career days, everyone attentively listened to every word he spoke. Even though he is such a superstar, he stole all our hearts with his humility and being just like one of us,” said Shilpa Sethi, chairperson, YFLO Kolkata.
