The slow-mood retro rock band, The Jiverz made a memorable and nostalgic evening with their classic hits at Princeton Club on March 18 for The Jiverz Concert in association with t2. The band’s repertoire has expanded, from Sade to Doobie Brothers and from Bill Withers to Eagles and many more. The Jiverz started their musical journey at Skinny Mo’s jazz club, a year ago and now they rock the city with the very best of slow-mood retro rock music across the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. In their earlier months, the band had great success at prestigious social clubs in town like Tolly Club, Bengal Club, and CRC. At the Allen Park concert during Christmas where they were invited as a special guest, they had an audience of over 2000 die-hard fans ‘jiving’ to them. With Sucheta Sanyal and Kushal Kundu (Tony) on vocals and guitars, Sayan Mukerji on bass guitar, Tilak Kundu on drums and vocals, Renfred Anderson on keyboards, Kaushik Sen on percussions and Ricardo Gomes on guitars, The Jiverz have come together to perform classic rock covers.
(L-R) Biswajit Dasgupta, Rita Sarkar, Atashee Sinha, Anupam Chanda. “The Jiverz frontman Sayan is a friend and is the organiser for this show, I knew my expectations, and wasn’t disappointed. The set list was mostly of songs we listened to all our growing up years and some were all-time favourites like Eric Clapton’s Crossroads, Blind Faith’s Can’t find my way home and of course the Dire Straits classic Sultans of Swing which Jiverz played last. It was a fun evening amongst friends and watching friends playing retro rock,” said Biswajit.
The Jiverz played innumerable ’60s-80’s classic hits making the evening nostalgic for all the guests.
“This is a welcome change from pub music. It was a fun evening full of nostalgia,” said Nandini with her husband Manoj Agarwal.
“It was a great concert and the band did an incredible job taking us back to the ‘70s and ‘80s. The quality of music produced was brilliant... looking forward to more such events in the city,” said Parineet Kaur Chowdhury.
“Enjoyed a lovely nostalgic evening at the Jiverz Concert. Listening to numbers from the yesteryears was complete bliss. It was a completely enthralling experience and very well conducted,” said Sragdhara Banerjee Ghosh.
Arundhati Roy said, “This is the second Jiverz show I’ve attended and I enjoyed this show thoroughly! I’m into old classics anyway and the Sultans of Swing solo just blew me away!”
Sreyanka Sarkar with her husband Binaek enjoyed the evening together and said, “Sometimes it only takes a few good songs to bring back some good old memories. Mesmerised by their covers, Jiverz keeps the retro music alive.”
