Ahaan Gupta and Mehak Lohan dominate at the Tolly Junior Classic 2023

The latest instalment of the IGU Keventer East Zone Feeder Tour took place at Tollygunge Club

The Tolly Junior Classic 2023, the third leg of the IGU Keventer Junior East Zone Feeder Tour 2023, was held at Tollygunge Club between April 13 and 14, with My Kolkata as digital partner. The tournament featured over 40 top juniors of the East Zone in different age groups, ranging from under nine to 17 years.

The A&B boys category was won by Ahaan Gupta, who played two rounds of exceptional golf in the scorching heat, finishing on top with six over par 146 in two days. Prashant Agarwal of the B category became the runner-up after shooting 151 but prevailed on count back basis as he shot better in the second round, ahead of Aditya Khaitan, who lost by a narrow margin. Prashant Agarwal also won the B Boys category with a score of 151, while Armaan Tekriwal finished second with a score of 152. Arghya Shah (163) finished third in the B Boys category.

In the A&B Girls division, Mehak Lohan shot 176 to win the title, while Dhanvi Patel shot three shots worse to finish second. Andrew Baid won the C Category Boys with a score of 164, three shots better than Aranyak Chakraborty, who finished second in the same category. Hredaan Raj Bihani placed third in the C Category Boys with a score of 173. Julinka Roy Chowdhury won the C&D Girls division with a score of 172, while Nahida Parvin finished second with a score of 197.

Hrian Khem shot 148 to win the D Category Boys, with Arkaprovo Chaudhury (149) finishing second and Shaurya Sen (155) finishing third. Shaurish Sen of the under-nine category, E Boys, won the championship with an 83, followed by Parikshet More (84) and Yugvardhana Singhania (87).

Sreyon Chatterjee, vice-captain, Tollygunge Club, and Indrajit Bhalotia, director, Protouch Sports, gave away the prizes. The tournament was organised by Protouch Sports and IGU, and the participants were taken care of with regular drinks, ORS and food to beat the heat in Kolkata. “I felt elated to win and wish to do so in the future. My special thanks go to Indrajit Bhalotia and his entire team for their ongoing guidance,” said Ahaan Gupta, the A&B category winner, at the prize distribution.

The tour's education partner was The Champ for Life Academy, the outdoor media partner was Balaji Ads and the online proshop partner was Golfedge. The food partner was Wow! Momo. Keventer, eastern India's largest FMCG company, had sponsored giveaways for the participants. The event was managed by Protouch Sports.
