Kabir Bedi, who was in town for a string of events, stopped by to sign copies of his memoir Stories I Must Tell, published in 2021, for readers and fans both young and old at Storyteller Bookstore, Ballygunge. The crowd was swept by the nostalgia of growing up with his older movies while he posed for pictures. Bedi read from his book and talked about his life in the movies, playing the role of Gobinda, an aide to the James Bond villain in Octopussy and performing on stage in Shakespearean plays in the West. He also expressed his support for independent bookstores across the country, requesting readers to visit physical stores over making online purchases. Speaking at the event, the proprietor of Storyteller Bookstore, Mayura Misra said: “Heartening to have the support of Kabir Bedi. We would request authors and writers from across the world to think of independent bookstores and visit Storyteller Bookstore when in Calcutta, always a city of enthusiastic readers.”
