The Hindustan Park Durga Puja pandal in Gariahat brings a lumberyard to life, a poignant reminder of the intricate world of plants. Under the theme ‘Praan’ (Life), the puja aims to shed light on the fact that plants, too, feel pain. The trunk of a barren tree, empty clay pots and a myriad such objects try to convey the point. The theme celebrates the interconnectedness of all life forms

The theme at the Netaji Colony Lowland Sarbojonin Durgotsab Samity in Baranagar is ‘Antahin’ (Endless). The Durga Puja is housed in a pandal shaped like a ship. Giant, brightly coloured toad stools and underwater creatures like sea anemones are used as props at the entrance. Inside, giant pillars engraved with gods and goddesses have been used besides tall skyscrapers. But the striking point is the ceiling portraying a cloudy sky, a clear blue sky and a fiery sky
