An ode to the ’90s

Remember those blank greeting cards from the ’90s? How about bringing them back this Christmas? It can be a fun family activity, where everyone in the family writes for each other and paints a little too! Since the cards are customised, they can be smaller in size. Use a punch machine to make a hole at the top left of the cards, tie glittery strings, and hang them from the branches of the Christmas tree.

It’s strawberry season, and we should make the most of it in as many ways as we can. Wondering how? Here’s step one, the recipe: Wash the strawberries and pat them dry. Take chocolate of your choice in a bowl. In a separate bowl boil water. Place the bowl with chocolate atop and stir continuously until the chocolate melts. Dip in chocolate and allow the chocolate to solidify.
Step two involves shopping! Buy Christmas socks, wrap each strawberry in a wrapping paper, put them in the socks, and tie them to the tree. Point to note, this has to be done on Christmas eve or on Christmas morning so the strawberries don’t spoil.
Toying around

If you are a family of toy collectors, turn them into Christmas tree decorations. They can be anime figures, small wooden toys, tiny ceramic ones, or those plastic buses and bits and pieces of kitchen sets and Lego pieces. It will be nice to take a trip to childhood, reminiscing about the days when these toys were our most precious possessions.

… won’t save nine, but will make cute tree decorations. If you have a stitching expert in the house, join forces with him/her. Take out a few clothes from your family’s infant days and turn them into tiny stars or socks. Hang them on the tree and play a guessing game with the rest of the family on which socks belong to whom.

This idea is best suited if you have elderly members in the family. You can start a new family tradition where the eldest member(s) of the house select who has done best in which field. For instance, the categories can be — the curious cat, the budding chef, the one who showers everyday during the winters, the foodie of the house, the one who loves to be late, and so on. You can make photo cards with the title and hang them on the tree on Christmas morning. The family can get a fun surprise as you sip into eggnog or hot chocolate, ushering in the festive spirit.
