Wanted in several cases of extortion, murder and threatening traders, Iqbal Khan, son of Wasseypur based mafia don, Fahim Khan was arrested on Saturday by Dhanbad police in connection with a 2018 case - extortion demand worth Rs 10 lakh from Wasseypur resident fruit trader Shoib Alam.

Iqbal, the eldest son of Fahim Khan, who is lodged in Ghaghidih jail was recently also in the news after the murder of Wasseypur based realtor Nanhe Khan as the deceased was close aide of Iqbal.

The arrest carried out today is part of the crackdown launched by police against Wasseypur based criminals in the aftermath of the Nanhe Khan murder which took place on November 24.

Iqbal charged his own cousin brother Prince Khan of orchestrating the murder of Nanhe and a video of Prince Khan also went viral on the late night of November 24 in which Prince owned the responsibility for the murder of Nanhe.

Police arrested 11 persons in connection to the case including two shooters Mahtab Alam alias Rahman and Dickey Ansari besides, Nasrin Khatoon the mother of Prince Khan.

Police sources said that, Shoaib Alam had lodged a case against Iqbal Khan and his three cousin brothers, Prince Khan, Godwin Khan and Banti Khan of demanding Rs 10 lakh as extortion from him on February 7, 2018 in connection with a building construction work.

Notably, Iqbal and his cousin brothers including Prince Khan, Banti Khan and Godwin Khan earlier acted as part the same gang demanding extortion from different traders and contractors and primarily the railway contractors but later due to dispute over distribution of booty they parted ways.

Ashraful Hasan alias Lala Khan, a property dealer of Wasseypur who enjoyed the patronage of Prince and his brothers including Banti Khan and Godwin Khan was killed in broad day light on May 12 near jabbar masjid of Wasseypur while was heading towards his house at Kalindi Muhalla of Wasseypur.

Sanjeev Kumar Dhanbad SSP, confirming the arrest of Iqbal said, “We have arrested Iqbal in connection with an old case."
