Two rebels belonging to the outlawed CPI-Maoist outfit were arrested with posters and a banner from the Toklo police station area in West Singhbhum district.

The duo, later identified as Suleman Kandir (27) and Joban Tuti (24), was nabbed near Jharjhara jungle while riding on a two-wheeler.

The posters recovered from them demanded that top Maoist leader Prashant Bose, who is now lodged in Hotwar Central Jail, be proclaimed by the administration as a political prisoner.

Also mentioned in the poster was the demand for providing proper medical treatment to Bose and his wife Sheela Marandih, who is lodged along with Bose.

The two Maoists fell in the police net on Thursday evening while a call for 24-hour Jharkhand-Bihar bandh was effective in support of Prashant Bose.

Revealing about the arrest, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Chakradharpur, Kapil Chaudhury said that they had intelligence input regarding the presence of Maoists in the area.

"On the basis of the information, we intensified patrolling in and around the Jharjhara jungle. Incidentally, two youths were seen riding a bike through a road near Jharjhara jungle. Despite the youths appearing to be simple villagers, the police and paramilitary forces stopped them and searched them. During the searching, the patrolling party recovered seven Maoist posters and a banner from the possession of the two. Soon the youths were taken into custody," Chaudhury said while talking to The Telegraph Online.

The SDPO who looks after the Toklo thana area beside Chakradharpur said that both Suleman Kandir and Joban Tuti are residents of Kuchai thana area of Seraikela-Kharsawan district and that the duo were sent to Chaibasa divisional jail on Friday.
