Climbers of Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF), who donned Jharkhand jerseys, came up with excellent performances at the Open National Sports Climbing Championship that concluded here on Monday evening.
The young climbers won 13 medals (five gold, three silver and five bronze) to cap the championship organised by Tata Steel for the first time in Jamshedpur.
Harpreet Singh Yadav and Inika Prakash Abhale slotted home yellow metals in the kids’ (6-9 age group) in the boys’ and girls’ section, while Suraj Singh Thakur and Jonga Purty also stood on the top podium in the sub-junior boys’ and girls’ (10-13 age group) sections. Anisha Verma finished with gold in the junior girls’ (14 to 16) category.
Host outfit’s Abhishek Rawat (sub-junior), Pusha Singh, Jonga Purty (junior girls) picked silver even as Vidula Prakash Abhala (sub-junior girls), Aman Verma (junior boys), sibling Aman and Anisha, along with Suraj Singh Thakur (junior boys and girls), finished with bronze.
Tata Steel vice-president (corporate services) Chanakya Chaudhary and veteran climber Bachendri Pal graced the prize distribution ceremony.
A total of 154 young and aspiring champions from Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Delhi took part in the three-day event.
