There is a waterfall on the course of Subarnarekha river at a height of 98m (322ft), which is one of the highest waterfalls, in the state.

The scene of water falling from such a height is a sight to behold. The different formation of rocks because of erosion by the constantly falling of water has added to the beauty of the spot.

General manager of JTDC Anmol Singh said it has been started on a trial basis.

“Based on feedbacks from tourists after the trial the facility will be started at other tourist destinations of the state. Trekking at Hundru will continue till January 25. In Netarhat, so far 200 tourists have enjoyed trekking. There it will end tomorrow,” Singh said.

The guide appointed to help tourists in trekking, Abhijit Dhibar, said so far 28 tourists have trekked.

“Out of 28, 11 were women. We have two routes of trekking — via Maldi Kargha, which shows a trekker the entire Hundru falls. It is a 4-km route of around four hours. The second route is via Minjur Nacha Hill, around 2-km long. Trekkers can see a tribal village from a height of 1,000ft from the hills where one has to reach via a forest,” Dhibar said.

Dhibar added: “A fee of Rs 100 is being kept for registration. Trekking starts from the tourist complex at 8.30am. Apart from him there is another guide. We were trained at Himalayan Mountain Institute for such activities.”

On January 15, the corporation had started the facility at Netarhat in Latehar district, around 145km from Ranchi.

A path of 3km, passing through Keol view point, Ghaghri fall and Pear Garden was chosen for the trekking. The sunrise and sunset looks beautiful at the spot.
