A girl from Sherasham village, Garhwa, sold by traffickers three years ago, was rescued by Rajasthan police from Patan village in Sikar district and will be brought back home in around three days.

Basanti Kumari, now a 20 year-old daughter of Banarsi Bhuiyan, had disappeared from her ancestral residence when she was 17.

The teenager was trafficked by one Sanjay Chaudhary from Jharkhand on the pretext of marriage, who sold her to Pawan Singh of Patan village in Rajasthan for two lakh rupees.

After a horrifying time with Singh, would would torture her in his house, Basanti managed to call her father a few days ago and narrate the incident.

Later, Banarsi Bhuiyan filed a complaint to the Child Welfare Comitee (CWC), Garhwa, whose chairman, Upendranath Dubey, sent a letter to the DSP cum nodal officer Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) headquarters to rescue the girl.

Taking quick steps to rescue the girl, Garhwa police approached the Sikar district police of Rajasthan.

“I have received information from the chairman of the Sikar CWC about the rescue of the girl,' said Dubey, adding that the girl was rescued and sent to the CWC, which refused to take her in as she is 20 years old.

The girl is now under the protection of the sub-divisional officer of Sikar.

DPS Bokaro postpones online classes

The management of Delhi Public School, Bokaro, on Saturday announced its decision to postpone online classes for a few more days in view of growing uncertainty among parents.

The school management has posted a notice in this regard three days before the online classes were to begin.

Earlier, the school had sought to start online classes on the Zoom app from June 15. But the decision had drawn flak from many working parents who found it stressful. In particular, the parents of children studying in the primary section were more worried about online classes.

Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan, officials of Bokaro Steel and others whose wards are students of the school were concerned about the school’s move. The parents had also tweeted on the issue tagging chief minister Hemant Soren, education minister Jagarnath Mahato and Bokaro deputy commissioner Mukesh Kumar.

The school posted the notice on its website around 3pm on Saturday, citing technical reasons.

Face mask scan

Police in Bokaro have launched checks on roads to nab those plying without face masks.

Teams of policemen conducted checking in intersections of Sectors 1, 4, 9, 8 and 12, Nayamoad, City Centre and Bermo. Deputy commissioner Mukesh Kumar had given strict instructions that no person should leave the house without a mask as this could reduce chances of coronavirus infection.

Some people were found on the roads without face masks by the policemen.

Testing increased in district

Altogether 129 samples have been taken for investigation, of which 62 were sent to Patliputra Medical College & Hospital, Dhanbad, while 67 samples were being tested using TrueNat at Sadar Hospital. The administration has increased testing in the Bokaro district. A report of 24 samples was received during the night in which all the cases were found to be negative. There are a total of five cases active in Bokaro, of which two are under treatment in RIMS, Ranchi.

School theft cuffs

Police have arrested four persons in connection with a theft at two schools in Pindrajora.

The arrested accused has been identified as Shahadat Ansari, Jehangir Ansari, Irfan Ansari and Sagir Ansari.

All of them are residents of Mohandih in Pindrajora area.

Chas subdivisional police officer Bhagwan Das said the first theft occurred in Upgraded Vidyalaya, Sonabad. Schoolteacher Sujata Kumari had given a written complaint to the police station stating that the thieves had stolen eight fans by breaking the lock of the school.

The second case involved the Oriental Foundation School in Pindrajora. The accused broke the lock of the school on the night of May 27 and stole a computer and a fan.
