With the fear of pandemic Covid-19 still on mind many a people are in a touring spree this summer.
Keeping the queries by the people in view, the tour and travel operators have also started organise tour packages for various destinations, especially in the hill stations and "Char Dham Yatra, " taking the opportunity after a gap of two years lull in the tourism sector due to the pandemic.
"We are organising tour package for the hill areas starting for a place like Leh to Gangtok also in the north India. Though very less number of people are booking in comparison of the queries we are every day, this is an encouraging thing to happen, " said Rajendra Lal, owner of Royal Yatra, a travel agency having his office at Baradwari locality of the city while talking to The Telegraph Online.
Lal pointed out though the queries were coming since mid-April, after the summer vacation was declared from May 14, they are getting greater number of queries, making places like Gangtok and Darjeeling as their favourable destinations.
Sanjay Agarwal, owner of Surbhi Travels, however, gave a different picture concerning the mindset of those willing to enjoy this summer.
"Greater number of elderly people are booking for the Char Dham Yatra, but people seem to be apprehensive of travelling to the popular north Indian tourist destinations like Kullu and Manali after reemergence Covid in Delhi recently, " said Agarwal who has his office at Aambagan in Sakchi.
The owner of Surbhi Travels pointed out that the fear of Covid is so intense in the mind of certain people that they got their bookings for Kullu and Manali cancelled after several Covid cases were reported afresh in Delhi and got them rescheduled for Goa and Puri.
KK Das, owner of yet another tour operator, Glowtravel Tours said increased fuel price seems to have taken its toll in the tourism sector.
"There has been a spurt in queries for the places like Kashmir, Gangtok, Goa since the past one week. As most of our tour packages are inclusive flight service too, increased fuel prices have made the packages much costlier if not bookings are not at least a month before. Many a people are, therefore, opting for economical destinations instead, " Das observed while talking to The Telegraph Online.
Apparent disappearance of Covid and subsequent relaxation in lockdown curbs after two years have made to go in a touring spree,
"We used to travel one place every summer, but could not do so for the past two years due to pandemic. However, this summer nothing can stop my family from going over to a popular tourist spot, " asserted Mom Chatterjee while talking to this website.
