For a Muslim TV actor, who has played over 10 Hindu mythological characters in various televison series, religion is of no importance to him.

Javed Pathan (35) of Dhanbad says, "The blessings of elders and God, be it Lord Shiva or Mohammad sahib, are more important”.

Talking to The Telegraph Online over the phone from Mumbai about the re-telecast of Vighnaharta Ganesh, in which he plays the lead role of Veerbahu, son of Lord Shiva. Pathan said, " Acting is my passion and I will continue to play different characters.”

Pathan, currently settled in Mumbai, has acted in a number of mythological TV serials including, Jai Jai Bajrang Bali, Jai Jag Janani Maa Durga, Mahadev, Jodha Akbar, Maharana Pratap, Baal Veer and the film, Paranormal. He has also acted as chief judge in the Miss and Mrs Jersey Contest in the USA, where Bollywood actor Dia Mirza was chief guest.

Recently, he shot his music album ‘Aasmaan’ in Vermont, USA. Zee Music recently released the album.

Life was not a bed or roses for Pathan, the eldest son of retired mining sardar Mohammed Immamudin and his wife Zahada Khatoon.

He attended high school at the DAV Public School, Hehal, Ranchi in 2004, following which he left for Mumbai and worked as a waiter in Hotel Noor Muhammadi for over a year.

He was also a golf boy in the Royal Goan Beach Club for more than a month.

“I worked in production for more than a year and developed a good physique. I studied Sanskrit in school so my accent was good, and I got my first break in a Sahara One television serial called Jai Jai Bajrang Bali in 2012. It was a small role,” said Pathan.

Pathan’s first major role was in Jay Jagjanani Maa Durga on Colours TV, following which he starred in the popular mythological series Mahadev on Life OK.

“After that, I signed up for a membership at the Cine and TV Artists Association, following which I got an offer from Zee TV for Jodha Akbar where I played the role of a warrior, Sheikh Jaidi,” he said,

The actor’s most challenging job was on the sets of the Sony TV series Maharana Pratap, where he played Hussain Quli Khan.

“My mother and father, three younger brothers, Mansur, Manjur and Jehangir, my four sisters Tamanna, Rani, Sahani and Naznin, and childhood friends are the most important parts of my life. I consider them as my real well wishers” said Pathan.

His profession keeps him busy, and the actor can only come back to his Jorapokhar home every Eid.

“But I feel I quite relaxed here in Mumbai, spending time with friends and seniors of my locality. Every time my part is screened on TV serials, I never forget to tell my family in advance about when I’ll be on. Even if I forget to tell them, they congratulate me after watching the show,” he said.
