Bengal's Keshav Goel bagged a double crown at the Tata Steel All India Tennis Association (AITA) Championship Series 2021, which concluded at the deco turf courts of the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Friday.

Goel, seeded 2 in the boys' singles under-18 category, did not have to sweat much against state mate Shivam Khanna as the latter seemed too raw and offered numerous free points to his opponent. Goel won the finals by a 6-1,6-3 scoreline.

Goel, partnering Tamoghna Das, had already lifted the boy's doubles under-18 title last evening. The duo got the better of Steven Ankit Ekka and Shubham Sarangi from Odisha by 6-2,6-2. In the girls' singles under-18, top seeded Sumeira Jaiswal from Bengal did justice to her billing lifting the champion's trophy drowning 2nd seeded Rituja Saha also from Bengal by a close 7-5,6-4.

Atrayee Sanyal, vice-president, Human Resource Management, Tata Steel Limited was present at the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest. She not only praised the infrastructure of the complex but was also delighted at the zeal of the young participants who competed to earn some crucial ranking points.

In her speech, she commented, "I may not have played tennis but I follow world tennis and that is why I encouraged my daughter to be part of this championship". The 5-day Championship Series organised by Tata Steel returned to Jamshedpur after over a decade. Plans are afoot to host the event annually in the steel city.
