The Ranchi University syndicate on Monday recommended the dismissal of three teachers of Karamchand Bhagat College, Bero, who have been working since the inception of the college in 1985.

The syndicate took this decision at a meeting during which they went through the report of an inquiry panel formed by the varsity that found these three teachers had got jobs based on fake marksheets.

The teachers — Umesh Tiwari (English), Pratima Sinha (home science) and Jamil Asgar (economics) — are on the verge of retirement.

The syndicate also recommended the money they drawn as salary be recovered.

Ranchi University public relations officer Prakash Jha shared this with the media.

Though the cellphone of vice chancellor Ramesh Kumar Pandey, who presided over the meeting, was found switched off in the evening, The Telegraph spoke to pro-vice-chancellor Kamini Kumar on the development.

“When they joined, any candidate needed to score 52.5 per cent marks in PG to get the job of a college teacher. These three Ranchi University alumni had not secured 52.5 per cent. They submitted fudged marksheets to get the jobs. Ironically, they have completed 35 years of service and are about to retire,” Kumar said.

None of the teachers could be contacted for their comments.
