Tata Steel’s division Tata Steel Industrial Consulting Division (TSIC), and TEXMiN, the mining technology innovation Hub at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, have forged a partnership aimed at solving problems in the mining sector through consultancy mode.

According to sources in IIT (Indian School of Mines-ISM) Dhanbad, earlier there was an agreement between Tata Steel and the institution for research and development in the mining sector.

However, this agreement will not only promote “innovation” but also solve all mining-related problems confronted by public sector mining units and private players in the country.

“It will see the joining of hands between Tata Steel having rich expertise in operating coal and iron ore mines in the country and IIT (ISM) having rich knowledge in mine management,” said the source.

The MoU inked last week in Dhanbad was termed by Tata Steel spokesperson as a “significant commitment towards propelling the mining industry into the era of mining 4.0, underlining both institutions’ dedication to fostering a sustainable and efficient future for the sector”.

Tata Steel vice-president, raw materials, D.B. Sundara Ramam said: “Collaborating with TEXMiN presents an exciting opportunity for Tata Steel to push the boundaries of innovation in the mining industry.
