The Howrah- Titlagarh Ispat Superfast Express will run with 18 new German-designed LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches from Saturday.

The train travels via Tatanagar.

“The new LHB coaches will ensure comfortable journey for passengers. The onboard catering services will be available as usual,” Sanjay Ghosh, chief public relations officer of South Eastern Railway, told The Telegraph on Friday.

LHB coaches have advanced braking system for increased safety at higher speeds. They are also anti-telescopic, which means that they do not flip even if the train derails or suffers a collision.

The train comprises three AC chair cars, one AC-3 tier and 14 second-class chair cars.

According to Ghosh, there will be no change in the fare structure following the introduction of the new rake.

Railway sources said the necessary fittings and commissioning work in the coaches were completed last week.

Passengers were happy with the development.

“I am excited to board the train with new and modern LHB coaches. I have some office work in Calcutta next week. I will prefer that train,” said Amit Agarwal, a local businessman.

Another regular traveller and an Adityapur-based industrialist, Gurudas Ray, said he was looking forward to a comfortable journey.

Earlier this year, the Railway Board had communicated its decision to replace the train’s conventional coaches with swanky LHB ones.

The LHB coaches have been manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai’s Perambur.
