Ajsu Party chief Sudesh Mahto on Tuesday asked workers not to feel demoralised over the performance in the Assembly election in which the party could win only two seats despite contesting 53 of the 81 seats.

Mahto addressed the party’s central working committee meeting called to review the performance of the party as well as future political strategy. Only Sudesh (Silli) and Lambodar Mahto (Gomia) could manage to win in the state polls held last year. In the 2014 Assembly election, the party had won five seats as the BJP’s alliance partner.

Mahto pointed out that the party’s vote share had gone up to 9.5 per cent from 5 per cent in 2014.

“It reflects that acceptability of the party has increased among people,” Sudesh is elarnt to have said at the meeting. “The party fielded committed workers in the election and now they should start working among people. In the 2024 Assembly election the Ajsu Party will win.”

The party will remain committed to its core ideology.”

All candidates of the party as well as the party’s Giridih MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary attended the meeting.

“We are neither with the Opposition nor with the treasury bench,” a senior party leader said.
