As many as 123 Coronavirus cases were reported during the past 24 hours in steel city and around as the East Singhbhum district administration gears up to start vaccination drive for the 15-18 years’ age groups here from Monday. These teenagers are likely to be inoculated at about 100 schools and eight static centers where vaccination facilities have been arranged.
The district health department officials are giving final touch to kick off the vaccination drive for this age group which has a population of over 1.66 lakhs in the steel city and beyond.
Giving details about the preparation, Dhalbhum sub-divisional officer, Sandeep Kumar Meena said that the vaccination meant for the 15-18 age group will start from Monday and will be completed in a week's time. "Management of all the schools -- both private as well as government-run -- have been intimated about our programme for getting the students inoculated through mobile vans. At the eight static centers, teenagers who are not school students can get the vaccines, " said Meena while talking to The Telegraph Online.
The SDO also informed that those colleges where students will be vaccinated have made proper arrangements for the same. Meena informed that the vaccination drive for the teenagers will begin at Loyola School around 10.30 am tomorrow and will continue till 5 pm every day until all the 1,800 students of this age group are inoculated. He said that the vaccination drive at other schools will follow after the inauguration of the drive at the Loyola School.
Significantly, the Covid cases are seeing a sharp spike in the steel city. During the past 24 hours, 123 people tested positive after 74 people were tested on Friday and 42 persons on Thursday respectively.
