Congress leaders from Jharkhand ushered in the foundation day of the state on Monday by garlanding the statue of Birsa Munda at City Centre Chowk but simultaneously continued with their their nationwide mass agitation programme in the district against the price rise. They staged state corner meeting at Rangatand Chowk and Hirapur area.

Speaking on the occasion at Rangatand Chowk, Brajendra Prasad Singh, district president of Congress, said, “We are carrying out a fortnight nationwide protest against price rise which is affecting common masses in the worst possible manner during the BJP rule.”

Singh, added, “We launched the protest programme on the the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru on Sunday and will continue the drive till November 29 during which a host of programmes including taking out of Prabhat Pheri, street corner play, Dharna, demonstration and others will be organised. At a time when the nation is passing through one of the most difficult times during the pandemic , the woes of common people have been aggravated due to unprecedented price rise.”

"We began the drive on Sunday from Nehru Park of Jharia after garlanding the statue for Nehru and later took out a footmarch at Agrasen Bhavan in Jharia where a meeting was held with party activists to find as solution to the crisis. We also carried out a dharna near the district headquarters during the same day in the evening near Madhulika sweets of Dhanbad,” said Singh.

Echoing sentiments, working president of district unit of the party, Ravindra Verma said, “The economically deprived section of the society and middle class are finding it difficult to sustain due to price rise while the central government is busy is introducing anti people legislation be it farms laws or amalgamation of the labour code.”

“We will be taking out a Prabhat Pheri from Joraphatak road tomorrow morning which will march upto Howrah Motor and later in evening a similar programme will be held near the Manaitand Gol Building” said Baibhav Sinha, town president of Congress.
