Jamshedpur: Police have sounded red alert across Kolhan region after the outlawed rebel outfit, CPI-Maoist has given a call for Bharat bandh on November 20. The bandh has been given by the naxal outfit in protest against the arrest of Prashant Bose, a veteran leader.

The Kolhan region comprising the twin districts of Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan assumes significance during the Bharat band as Bose who is a CPI-MAOIST Politburo member was caught from the Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

Cops in Kolhan are working on a war footing for elaborate security arrangements to ward off any untoward incident during the band.

"As the top naxal leader Prashant Bose has been arrested from Seraikela-Kharsawan district in Kolhan, the naxals will try to focus in the region for subversive acts. By triggering violence, rebels would try to make their presence felt despite their leader being put behind the bar," said West Singhbhum district superintendent of police, Ajay Linda while talking to The Telegraph Online.

"Among the three districts in Kolhan, the West Singhbhum is the most naxal-infested district. We have, therefore, begun the preparation soon after the Bharat band call was given on Wednesday, " said the superintendent of police.

The outlawed rebel outfit has been observing "Pratirodh Saptah" since November 12, the day Bose was nabbed.
