The second foot overbridge project at the Tatanagar railway station's Chakradharpur end has been completed, railway officials said on Tuesday.
The work on the project gained momentum in April last year after launching of the two girders and the base of the foot overbridge.
The new foot overbridge will enable passengers to go to different platforms. Soon it will also help passengers enter other platforms from the second entrance at the Burmamines end.
With this, the A1-category Tatanagar railway station now has two foot overbridges. Another new foot overbridge is to come up on the rear end (the Howrah end).
Station director H.K. Balmuchu said that the second foot overbridge would help during rush hours.
“The second foot overbridge would share passengers load during rush hours. Another foot overbridge had been sanctioned at Tatanagar. We are expecting the work to begin in April this year,” he said.
Chhotanagpur Passenger Association's senior functionary Arun Tiwari praised the railways for completing the second foot overbridge project. “The project will immensely benefit the passengers,” he said.
Tatanagar railway station, which falls on the Howrah-Mumbai main line, witnesses a daily footfall of around 50,000 passengers. Around 90 trains either originate or pass through the station daily.
