Ramgarh police holds fruit distribution camp on Chhath Puja

Move to bring the cops closer to the residents of the area which is frequented by rebels

Chhath festival came as an occasion of the police public connect in Palamau said sources.

The Ramgarh police held a fruit distribution camp amidst the Chhath devotees on Wednesday evening.

Ramgarh is a place in Palamau which is still frequented by the rebels belonging to the splinter group of rebels namely the JJMP (Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad).

The rebels keep coming in and going out from the adjoining district Latehar said sources.

Officer in charge of the Ramgarh police station, P Ranjan Rai said, "Ours was a joint venture wherein law-abiding citizens of our police station area contributed to this fruit distribution ceremony in the evening ritual of the Chhath."

The police officer had a word of praise for Animesh Jaiswal, the Ramgarh block Palamau MP V D Ram's representative, who played a key role in this fruit camp.

"There were apples, bananas and oranges. Devotees were given these freebies with open hands," said the police officer.

Local residents have hailed the move of the police in the red turf who say it will bring the police closer to the public.

In another move in this Chhath festival SP Palamau Chandan Kumar Sinha and his wife Kanchan Singh performed Chhath rites at the river bank of the Amanat.

Sources said the SP had his Chhath rituals without any fanfare.

Commissioner Palamau Jatashankar Chowdhury and his family celebrated Chhath festival at the pond in their official residence here in Daltonganj.

"The Ganga Aarti was disallowed in Daltonganj," said the SDO Sadar Rajesh Kumar Sah.

"There were requests galore for it but we cited the government order in this regard and the Ganga Aarti was put off," Sah said.

Rapid antigen tests were conducted at the Daltonganj Chhath ghat, according to civil surgeon Anil Kumar. All tests were found covid negative.

Masks were also distributed, informed the civil surgeon.
