The second phase of the ongoing construction work of a Railway underbridge at Katras scheduled today was postponed as heavy rains affected the movement of necessary equipment like cranes.
The Dhanbad division of East Central Railway, meanwhile also announced the restoration of all trains for today which have been earlier cancelled or rescheduled to facilitate the execution of box pushing work. The restorations of trains have been carried out in view of the postponement of the job.
A press note issued by the Senior Divisional Engineering (2) of Dhanbad Division said, “The Railway has provided a nine-hour traffic block from 8.45 am this morning to execute the box pushing work to NHAI as part of the broadening of railway underbridge from Tetulmari to Nichiput. During the inspection of the site by the railway team from 6 am to 9.30 am, it was observed that NHAI had failed to bring the required resources to complete the allotted job within the stipulated time. The traffic block, therefore, has been cancelled.” The note also added that the Railway has cancelled three pairs of passenger trains and diverted two pairs of express trains for the broadening work.
Notably, the railway planned to complete the underbridge construction or broadening work in three phases on January 30, February 10, and February 22.
As per the previous schedule of traffic block of today three pairs of trains including Asansol Gaya Asansol MEMU train (03545-46), Asansol Varanasi Asansol MEMU Train (03553/03554) and Burdwan Hatia Bardwan MEMU (03503/03504) were to remain cancelled. This apart, Kolkata Jammutawi (13167) express was to be rescheduled for 40 minutes from Howrah while Kolkata Agra Cantt. Express was to be rescheduled for around 90 minutes from Kolkata.
As per the previous schedule, the diverted trains for today were Poorva Express (12381) which instead of running on Asansol-Dhanbad-Gaya-Mughalsarai (Deendayal Upadhyay) route was to ply on the Asansol Jhajha Patna-Mughalsarai route. Similarly Jammutawi Kolkata Express (13152) was ply on the Mughalsarai Patna Jhajha Asansol route instead of the Mughalsarai-Gaya-Dhanbad-Asansol route.
West Bengal Sampark Kranti Express (12330) was also supposed to be diverted on the Mughalsarai-Patna Jhajha Asansol route instead of its normal route of Mughalsarai-Gaya-Dhanbad-Asansol route.
All of these train cancellations, rescheduling, and diversions have been however nullified following the cancellation of traffic block by Railway and all trains have been restored.
