Passengers interested in refunding railway tickets meant for journey between March 21 and June 21 can now do so at ticket counters within three months from the date of commencing journey instead of the stipulated three days.The railways has allowed this concession in order to avoid rush at refund counters.
Girl, 14, rescued
Police and para-military forces on Saturday rescued a 14-year-old girl from the clutches of a squad of Maoist leader Jeevan Kandunla at Indrawa village under Keraikela police station area in West Singhbhum. The police said two-and-half-years ago, Jeevan and his associates had abducted the girl despite protests by her parents. The Naxalites sexually abused the minor and she was also thrashed often, cops said. The police have sent the girl to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for a medical examination and are planning to get her admission in the Kasturba Gandhi Residential School in the district.

Teaching and non-teaching staff in government schools will have to report to duty till the government issues specific orders, an official said.

Mask gift
Tata Motors Hospital on Saturday provided 100 masks to the Birsanagar police station for distributing among policemen and others to check the spread of the novel coronavirus. Birsanagar police station officer in-charge Sunil Kumar Kushwaha said 40 cops were given the masks and the remaining 60 were distributed among local residents.
PLFI trio in net
Police on Saturday arrested three PLFI rebels from Kanarova forests here in the district after an encounter. Police also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from them.

Kolhan University on Saturday approved leave for teachers of the university and constituent colleges till March 31. Officials, however, will have to be on duty.

Shop burgled
Unidentified criminals decamped with vehicle batteries and inverters worth over Rs 5 lakh by breaking open a shop at Bajrang Chowk in Baridih, under Sidhgora police station area, in the small hours of Saturday. The criminals came in an SUV and burgled Nidhi Enterprises between 2am and 4am, police said. Shop owner, Ganesh Kumar lodged an FIR with the Sidhgora police. In the FIR, Kumar stated that he had left the shop after locking it properly on Friday night. On Saturday morning, he found the locks of his shop broken, though shutters were down, and entered to find 30 batteries and 14 inverters missing, Kumar stated.
