President Droupadi Murmu to attend Jharkhand statehood event

‘The main function will be of three hours commencing at 3pm’

Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Saturday said that President Droupadi Murmu has given consent to attend a statehood day function, to be held in Ranchi on November 15.

“Droupadi Murmu Ji has accepted to grace the function as chief guest. Several new people-centric policies would be unveiled during the function along with distribution of assets to beneficiaries of government welfare schemes,” Soren said while speaking to reporters in Ranchi after holding a review meeting on preparation of the statehood day function in the state capital.

Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar on November 15, 2000.

Droupadi Murmu was the governor of Jharkhand till 2021 and the JMM, going against the UPA consensus candidate Yashwant Sinha, had voted for Murmu hinging on the tribal sentiments.

Sources in the chief minister’s secretariat informed that Soren would launch Chief Minister Sarathi Yojana, Guruji Credit Card Scheme, Chief Minister Education Promotion Scheme and Eklavya Skill Scheme at the function.

“All these schemes are aimed at financing education and in preparation of candidates for various competitive exams,” said an official.

Soren would also launch State Industrial Park and Logistics Policy 2022, Electric Vehicle Policy 2022 and Jharkhand Ethanol Production Promotion Policy 2022 along with releasing the portal of Chief Minister Relief Scheme for farmers.

“The main function will be of three hours commencing at 3pm. Projects worth Rs 5,000 crore would be either inaugurated or the foundation stones would be laid on the occasion, while assets worth Rs 2,000 crore would be distributed among beneficiaries,” the official added.

Appointment letters would be given to over 1,000 candidates, recruited in government departments.
