Police on Friday started a probe into the fire incident that broke out on Thursday afternoon in the general office of the shut Incab Industries Limited.
A police team led by city superintendent of police Subhas Chandra Jat inspected the mishap spot on Friday. A sniffer dog was also pressed into service. Jat was accompanied by forensic and finger print experts and after the inspection, the city SP sealed the gates of the general office.
“Conspiracy and sabotage in the fire incident cannot be ruled out because the office did not have any power connection. So the possibility of a short-circuit is ruled out. We will once again inspect the office to reach to a conclusion,” said Jat. Jamshedpur East legislator and former minister Saryu Roy had a meeting with the employees and union representatives at the CWA Hall in the Cable Township.
On Thursday evening, Roy went to the mishap spot and assured the employees to extend his cooperation.
Roy had also promised re-start of the ailing company and this was one of his Assembly poll agendas. “It was an unfortunate incident which requires a thorough probe. I have also spoken to the state chief secretary for a probe into the fire mishap,” said Roy.
Aloke Sen, the assistant secretary of Incab Industries Association, who had come from Calcutta to attend the meeting, said: “We suspect foul play in the fire mishap. It’s a sabotage to destroy the company’s important documents kept in the general office. A high-level probe should be initiated.”
An important hearing is slated at the Calcutta bench of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on the revival of Incab on January 9. Its revival process got a new twist last year when NCLT, under a resolution plan, appointed Shashi Agarwal, an interim resolution professional, with the power to take charge of the company which has defaulted.
