The body of a 32-year-old Biochemistry professor of Patliputra Medical College and Hospital PMCH) was found lying in his flat in Kusum Vihar colony of Dhanbad on Thursday.

The incident came to light when some neighbours found his flat locked and informed police, who broke open the door to find him lying on his bed.

Police also recovered a number of liquor bottles from his room, and sent his body for post-mortem at PMCH.

18-months-old Covid patient discharged

An 18-months-old Covid-19 affected infant who was admitted in a Covid hospital of Dhanbad on June 16 was discharged from the hospital on Thursday.

Dhanbad deputy commissioner Amit Kumar said that the infant was affected with urinary complications and was today sent to Ranchi for treatment after being discharged from Dhanbad.

"The successful treatments of a 77-year-old cancer-affected woman on May 30 and and that of an 18-months-old boy were two major achievements in the Covid fight, under the advisory of the RIMS Ranchi doctors", said Kumar.

First Covid case in CRPF Battalion 171

Four fresh Covid-19 cases were reported in Garhwa on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases to 95 in the district.

“All the infected individuals are within the age group of 25 to 40 and had returned to the city from Rajasthan and Maharashtra. They were under quarantine”, said civil surgeon NK Rajak.

Among them is a man from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the first case in Battalion 171 in Garhwa.

“The man returned from Rajasthan and was in the CRPF camp quarantine centre”, he added.

The district administration has stepped up measures to monitor the health of the vulnerable groups, including the elderly and children — collecting samples and sending suspected patients into home quarantine, said officials.

So far, 85 patients have been discharged after successful treatment.

Land broker shot dead near school

A 45-year-old land broker was shot dead in Garhwa town near RAV school, on Thursday night.

However, police officers are probing the case of Krishna Chandravanshi, to ascertain the motive behind his murder.

"Hearing the sudden sound of firing, the people of the locality did not leave their house in fear. About half an hour late, Krishna's family found him soaked in blood when they came out of the house. With the help of the people of the locality, they took him to Sadar Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead," said his brother Ramsarup.

The wife of the deceased has lodged an FIR against a Ravi Vishwakarma and another under various sections of the IPC.

Superintendent of police Khotre Srikanth Suresh Rao said that they are interrogating some people, and investigation is underway.
