As the threat of coronavirus continues to looms large, residents of Bokaro have begun thwarting their plans to go out of the town and started exploring ideas of visiting parks, dams and other local natural scenic locations during the Unlock-1 phase.
Realising this need of the residents, the district administration has come up with a plan to develop parks and hangout zones in the township. On Wednesday, Dhanbad MP P.N. Singh laid the foundation stone of a beautification project at Garga Bridge. The project, with a budget of Rs 69 lakh, is aimed at beautifying the areas of Garga Bridge.
The administration has also planned to develop the entire area of Garga Bridge as a vibrant spot in the district. About 39 lamp posts will be installed at the bridge, while the Garga riverbed site will be developed as a hangout zone with Gazebos and a large LED screen for residents. Bokaro deputy commissioner Mukesh Kumar, MLA Biranchi Narayan and others were present at the occasion.
Garga Bridge beautification is one of the four projects, which have been planned by the administration, to come up as a part of the construction and beautification initiative in the district. The deputy commissioner informed that Garga Bridge spot will be beautified in an innovative way for the residents, adding that another place named Amrit Park will soon come up close to the bridge.
Amrit Park will have swings, slides, lights, fountain waterfalls and other attractions for children. It will be handed over to the residents within 15 days. A 35-feet-high fountain through which water will fall into three layers will remain a special attraction for residents in the park. Besides, there will be an open gym outside.
Kumar said that apart from these two projects, construction of Surya Sarovar Tiranga Park near Camp-2, located in Sector-1 of the township, is going on at full pace. “It will be constructed within four months,” the deputy commissioner said.
Talking about Tiranga Park, Kumar said that “as per the name, the park will host a national flag. Besides, a pond is also being constructed, where iron-casted benches will be installed for visitors to sit. It will also be very beautiful”.
Moreover, the administration has also planned to launch water sports and other activities in Garga Dam situated 17kms away from the Garga Bridge. The administration is aiming to use the scenic beauty of Garga Dam to develop a mega water sports destination of the state. Kumar has also taken the effort to build an amusement park around Garga Dam.
Apart from these proposed projects, there are about half-a-dozen spots in the district, including Tenughat Dam, Konar Dam, Luggu Hill, Bhuk-Bhukiya Nala, Luggu Buru Ghanta Badi Dharamgarh, which can also draw a huge number of visitors after the coronavirus pandemic comes to an end.
The administration is all set to start talks with PSUs, tourism department and water resources department to enhance basic facilities in these spots.
Meanwhile, Bokaro Steel Township also hosts about a dozen small and big parks, which mostly are in poor condition. The administration is also chalking out plans to ask BSL to focus on the upkeep and development of the parks concerned.
