The new managing director of civic body Mineral Area Development Authority (Mada) Dilip Kumar, who assumed office on Tuesday, was in work mode from Day One.

Kumar inspected Mada’s water supply system at the Jamadoba water treatment facility after which he underlined his priorities — safe drinking water and regular salaries.

Kumar said he would ensure regular and safe drinking water to Jharia, Kendua, Putki, Karkend, among others, through the Jamadoba plant.

“Ahead of summer, we will make a temporary barrage in river Damodar near the Jamadoba facility to maintain water level in the area,” he said.

On pending pay of over 900 employees for 36 to 38 months the new MD said that they would ensure salaries were paid from “internal funds”.
