New Jharkhand Congress general secretary in-charge Avinash Pandey will visit the state on Saturday for three days to discuss ways to strengthen the party organisation.

“The visit of the two senior leaders assumes significance after the former party Jharkhand-in-charge R.P.N. Singh joined the BJP on January 25 and demands from a certain section of leaders to reverse the decisions taken during Singh’s tenure especially appointment in key posts. The leader is expected to rejuvenate the party leaders to work unitedly forgetting internal differences for strengthening the party at the mass level and go all out to highlight wrong policies of BJP-led government at the Centre,” said a Jharkhand Congress executive committee member based in Ranchi preferring anonymity.

Congress MLA from Barkagaon (in Ramgarh district) and youngest lawmaker of Jharkhand had accused Singh of colluding with the BJP “for more than a year” to destabilise the JMM-led UPA government in Jharkhand.

“The new state-in-charge and co-in-charge after arriving in the afternoon will hold a meeting at 3pm in Ranchi with state president Rajesh Thakur, Congress Legislature Party leader Alamgir Alam and all MLAs, cabinet ministers from the Congress, working presidents, current MP (Geeta Koda from Singhbhum) and former MPs from Jharkhand, former MLAs, party spokespersons and in-charges of party frontal organisation to discuss organisational issues. Later in the evening, a meeting of the legislative party meeting would also be held,” confirmed party spokesperson Rakesh Sinha.

He further informed that on January 30 a meeting would be held with all the 24 district presidents along with concerned district MLAs, MPs, former MPs and district presidents of frontal organisations of the party including women and trade unions.

On January 31, a meeting would be held with the party’s national-level office bearers in Jharkhand, in-charges of All India Congress Committee and frontal organisation from Jharkhand.
