“Action will be taken against those involved in corruption irrespective of rank after proper inquiry,” Rao said.

He vowed to make the police more people-friendly.

“A charter of citizens’ demands, from the police station level to the headquarters level, will be prepared within 100 days and top 10 problems will be selected for solutions. Superintendents of police of each district will be responsible for this. The progress will be reviewed after every 15 days. During review, performance of officers in-charge of each police station will also be reviewed,” Rao said.

Asked how the charter of people’s demands would be prepared, Rao said: “Reputed persons of different localities will be contacted and based on their priority police will fix priority. In case in any locality people want police to handle a drunkard with an iron hand, then it will be done first. Similarly priorities of other localities will be decided.”

“The police will work promptly on the information from common people and work will be done to the satisfaction of the informant. Officials from police stations to police headquarters will be made approachable to ensure that common people can approach with their problems without any hindrance,” Rao said.

“Police will keep all platforms including email, Twitter and ordinary letters opens to receive problem of common people,” he added.

He also promised to improve the living standard of police personnel.

“Work will be done to improve the living standard of police officials from constables to officers. Facilities at police lines will also be improved,” Rao said.
