The state’s largest government hospital RIMS, which is also a Covid-19 treatment and testing hub, will start its e-OPD (outpatient department) services from April 20.
This decision was taken as the masses are being deprived of proper medical care after the OPD at RIMS closed on March 23.
The e-OPD services will be given from 10am to 1pm.
For this, four toll-free numbers have been provided, 18003457056, 9431787461, 9431763648 and 9431534107.
RIMS director Dr D.K. Singh told The Telegraph on Saturday that 20 doctors will be available at a time for the facility. Once someone calls up any of the toll-free numbers, the person receiving the call will forward to the doctors based on the symptoms of the ailment.
“Critical cases reaching us between 10am and 1pm will be discussed with senior doctors and accordingly the patient will be given medical advice between 2pm and 5pm,” Dr Singh added.
Asked about prescriptions, Dr Singh said: “Prescriptions will be scanned and sent via WhatsApp to the patient.”
Generally over 2,000 patients are examined at the RIMS OPD every day.
“Under the new system, we hope people (persons calling up the toll-free numbers for help) can describe the symptoms properly,” Dr Singh said.
A RIMS insider said a special team has been formed for the e-OPD including senior doctors such as Dr Arpita Roy, Dr Lakhan Manjhi, Dr Mithilesh, Dr Anshul and Dr Nishant,” the insider said.
