Railway and coal minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday claimed that the Modi wave had turned into a tsunami forcing the Opposition leaders to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi using unparliamentary language.

“There are a number of Congress leaders who use foul language against Modi. The party’s Ranchi parliamentary nominee Subodh Kant Sahay is one among them. He is a turncoat and as far as I know he changed his party thrice. He will be defeated by BJP candidate Sanjay Seth,” said Goyal at a news meet in Ranchi.

“Their president Rahul Gandhi has recently tendered an apology before the Supreme Court for leveling false allegations against Modi,” the Union minister said.

Referring to a public debate organised by the FJCCI in Ranchi recently, Goyal said Sahay had claimed that if the Congress came to power, all welfare projects run and started by the Modi government would be stopped.

“Sahay had said the Congress would come up with new projects where funds of these welfare schemes would be diverted,” Goyal said.

On Rahul’s British citizenship issue, Goyal said the Congress leader should clarify it.

Earlier in the day, Goyal participated in a public rally in Dhanbad in support of party candidate P.N. Singh where he attacked Congress candidate Kirti Azad. “Jo apne party Bhajpa ka na hua, wo Dhanbad ki janata ka kya hoga (One who can’t be loyal to its own party, how will he be loyal to residents of Dhanbad,” he said.

“The Congress could not find any local candidate for Dhanbad and made the Darbhanga MP as its candidate,” Goyal said and appealed to people of Dhanbad constituency to vote for Singh.

Goyal said coal production in the last five years had increased to 150 million tonnes in sharp comparison to a rise of 37 million tonnes during 10 years of Congress rule.

“Increased coal production meant more royalty for coal producing states like Jharkhand,” said Goyal.

Modi sarkar ke karyakal me kai kal karkhane lage aur anya vikash ke kaam hue (During Modi’s rule, factory output had also increased),” Goyal said, adding that sports infrastructure also improved across the country including the setting up of a sport academy at Hotwar in Ranchi.

“Over 350 boys and girls from across the state are getting world-class training facility in athletics, wrestling, archery, taekwondo, football, shooting, weightlifting, boxing and cycling under the guidance of national-level trainers with free boarding and lodging facilities at Hotwar,” he said.

He also lauded the development work being carried out by railways at different stations. “When I reached Dhanbad, I came to know from mayor Chandrashekhar Agarwal that the railways has also provided its own building to the civic body for running various job-oriented skill training centres.”

Goyal took a swipe at the Congress and JMM claiming that these parties were serving the interests of their leaders’ families and not the country and the people.

“The Congress is serving the Gandhi family while JMM chief Shibu Soren thinks only about his own family. They are not interested about the country or the state,” Goyal alleged.
