Nostalgia was the reigning emotion at IIT(ISM) and BIT-Sindri that hosted alumni meets over the weekend.

On Sunday, the concluding day of the two-day ruby jubilee celebrations of the 1979 batch, former students of IIT(ISM) visited Mani’s Café, a favourite haunt for ISMites around 100m from the campus, and feasted on south Indian dishes.

This was followed by sporting events comprising 50m race and long jump on Lower grounds. Wives of the alumni members took part in a musical chair.

At BIT-Sindri, the daylong global annual alumni meet began with a welcome song at MC grounds followed by welcome addresses by M.C. Karan, the additional general manager of the Sindri unit of Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan and the secretary of BIT-Sindri Alumni Association (BITSAA) and president K.K. Thakur.

Around 200 former students had gathered on the campus for the event.

A thought-sharing session on the future of the institute by over 50 members of the silver jubilee batch (1990-94) explored ways to ensure increased industrial exposure for students through industrial training programmes.

Scholarship distribution was followed by the election of new office bearers of BITSAA.

A cultural event wrapped up the programme.
