Capital residents can now enjoy live music show every weekend at the famed Rock Garden on the banks of Kanke Dam.
The idea was conceived by state chief secretary D.K. Tiwary who directed state urban development secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh to explore possibilities of using the open space at the garden to organise live shows.
Singh, along with RRDA vice chairperson Raj Kumar, paid a visit to the garden on Wednesday.
“We have fixed May 5 as the tentative date to inaugurate the live show. There are a number of rock bands and musical groups in the capital but they do not get proper opportunity and space to showcase their talent. Visitors will be equally entertained,” said Kumar.
The music show will be held every Saturday and Sunday from 6pm to 7pm and entry will be free for all. The bands will perform anything from western to classical and semi-classical. We will not entertain any vulgar performances,” said RRDA chairperson.
He further said an open lawn on the park facing Kanke dam would be used for live performance.
“We will look into basic arrangements like light and sound. Currently, I am supervising the entire programme. Any musical band interested for performance can contact me at the RRDA office in Kutchery Chowk on any working day,” he said.
