Kolhan University conducted its 52nd syndicate meeting on its Chaibasa premises on Tuesday with vice-chancellor Shukla Mahanty and other syndicate members.
The university decided to request higher and technical education department to lower the eligibility criteria for SC/ST candidates in BEd admissions this year.
As of now candidates who scored 50 per cent marks either in Bachelor’s or Master’s in science, social science, humanities, commerce can apply, however, the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) has a provision of lowering the eligibility criteria by five per cent for SC/ST candidates.
To be conducted by Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board, the registration process for Jharkhand BEd-2020 will start online from February 15.
Candidates can apply online till March 31.
The university also decided to send an application to the department to let the university counsel BEd applicants for vacant seats if any. Usually counselling too is organised centrally.
The meeting also green lit increasing the salary of computer operators in the university. The operators shall now receive an increased salary of Rs 20,000 compared to the initial Rs 16,000.
Also retired employees, who are hired because of shortage will receive an increased salary of Rs 11,000 as compared to Rs 8,000.
“The syndicate meeting on Tuesday approved 14 affiliation renewals and extensions. There were many affiliated colleges who had applied for their yearly renewals and extensions which will be forwarded to the higher and technical education department. The meeting also approved implementation of new pension scheme under the National Pension System,” said A.K. Jha, proctor and spokesperson of Kolhan University.
