A western disturbance passing through the northern parts of the country would again result in change in the weather condition of Jharkhand from Friday, weathermen in two cities said on Tuesday.

Officials at the Ranchi centre of the India Meteorological Department said the western disturbance would impact weather of the western Himalayan region and adjoining plains, which cover Jharkhand and neighbouring Bihar.

“We are expecting generally cloudy sky with possibility of light rain in isolated places over north-western, northern and central Jharkhand on February 21 and 22. Rainfall is also expected at a few places over north and central Jharkhand on February 23,” said S.D. Kotal, director of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

According to him, minimum readings would again witness a drop after the impact of the western disturbance wanes around Monday.

Dry weather prevailed in Jharkhand during the last five days. Maximum temperatures saw no large change over the last 24 hours.

Both Jamshedpur and Daltonganj on Tuesday recorded around 30°C, two notches above normal.

The minimum reading in the steel city was 13°C while the Palamau district headquarters recorded a minimum reading of 10.5°C.

State capital Ranchi on Tuesday recorded a maximum temperature of 28.4°C and a minimum of 11.2°C.

Weathermen said a trough formation was also taking place between 3.1km and 5.8km above mean sea level which will assist in rainfall activity this weekend.

A weather analyst at the Patna Met Centre said both maximum and minimum readings are expected to witness a gradual rise from February 28 indicating winter's departure from Jharkhand after a prolonged stay.
