Dhanbad: Dhanbad Police under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police, Sanjeev Kumar launched an awareness drive among youth about cyber security, violence against women and also domestic violence in the form of a workshop, which began on Saturday from SSLNT women’s college, Dhanbad.

The workshop, titled police Ki Pathshala during which expert policemen apprised the participating students about the technical and legal aspects of cyber security and domestic violence was part of the series of awareness drives planned in various educational institutions, including schools and colleges.

Talking to media the sidelines of the workshop, SSP Sanjeev Kumar said, “The awareness drive launched from the today is also aimed at bridging the gap between police and youth and the letting them understand the role and functioning the police and simultaneously apprising them about their roles and duties as citizens.”

“The apprehensions prevalent in the society about the police has been allayed to a great extent as a result of the workshop and we also sought the cooperation of youth in discharging our responsibilities as without the support of the common people we can’t serve them” said Kumar.

Dhanbad: Altogether 70 shopkeepers of Janta Market situated on the Jharkhand Housing Board land in Sardar Patel Colony of Dhanbad facing eviction threat in wake of Jharkhand High Court order were provided four day relief as they have been asked to vacate their shops themselves by Tuesday (February 15).

The relief was provided by the Jharkhand Housing Board on the request of the traders who met, Sandeep Singh, Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner under the banner of Federation of Dhanbad Zila Chamber of Commerce and also held telephonic talks to Jharkhand Assembly Speaker, Rabindranath Mahto seeking some time to remove their belongings.

Talking to media, Chetan Goenka, President of Federation of Dhanbad Zila Chamber of Commerce said, “The traders are happy over the development as the it would have been very diffcult difficult shift their belongings at such a short notice as per the old schedule of eviction slated for today,”

Prashant Layak, Circle Officer of Dhanbad who was present at the site, said, “We have suspended the eviction drive temporarily on the request of shopkeepers for four days but we will again carry out the drive after Tuesday (February 15)."

AK Samanta Executive engineer of Dhanbad division of Jharkhand Housing Board said, “The eviction drive is being carried out in the wake of the state wide initiative taken as per the Jharkhand High order to clear all encroachment lying on the Jharkhand Housing Board in all 24 districts immediately.”

Maximum cases of cancer in Jharkhand are related to neck and head

Dhanbad: “Around 50-70% cases of cancer in Jharkhand are related to neck and head and are caused due to chewing of tobacco,” opined Dr Abhimanyu, an oncologist dealing in the field at HCG Abdur Razzaque Ansari Cancer Hospital Ranchi, who was in Dhanbad on Saturday during the launch of OPD centre of the hospital at Sri Jagannath Hospital & Diagnostic Centre,Dhanbad.

“Though maintaining good oral hygiene minimises the risk of neck and head cancer avoiding the use of chewing tobacco is best way to prevent neck and head cancer” further said Dr Abhimanyu who has earlier served in Patna and added that the keeping tobacco inside the mouth during the night while sleeping increases the risk of head and neck cancer."

He further said that the first and secondstages of neck cancer are easily curable while in many cases due to delayed diagnosis the third and fourth stage of cancer requires complex surgeries of 10 to 12 hours.

“The neck and head related cancer also leads to deformity in neck and face as it requires taking out of jaws etc for carrying out operation etc” said Dr Abhimanyu and further added that proper post surgery care and habit of taking of food after the surgery is also crucial after surgery of neck and head cancer," he said.

DMC waives requirement of holding number for trade license

Dhanbad: Coal town traders facing difficulty due to an erroneous clause of mandatory requirement of holding number for trade license issuance or renewal heaved a sigh of relief as, Satyendra Kumar, Dhanbad Municipal Commissioner on Saturday assured to waive off the clause by issuing a notification soon.

The occasion was the informal meeting of traders during the prize distribution function of cleanliness competition organised by Dhanbad Municipal Corporation during which the chamber of commerce and industry of Bank More, Park Market and Sindri were given first, second and third prizes respectively.

Talking to The Telegraph Online today, Pramod Goyal, secretary of Bank More Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who was present during the prize distribution ceremony said, “We raised the issue of erroneous clause related to mandatory requirement of holding number for traders for obtaining trade license which is affecting large number of traders and particularly the small traders operating from rented accommodations.”

“The commissioner assured to waive off the mandatory requirement of holding number for trade license for small traders operating from establishments up to 250 square feet,” added Goyal.

Md Sohrab, former president of Bank More Chamber of Commerce in the light of the latest assurance given by the Municipal Commissioner demanded that the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation, to immediately initiate steps to provide trade license for such traders who have applied for obtaining trade license during the series of camps organized by DMC for issuing trade license between February 12 to February 23, 2021.”

Sohrab who tweeted to Chief Minister, Hemant Soren and Urban Development Minister, Rameshwar Oraon in this regard said. “Thousands of new trade license issuance or renewal applications are pending since several years due to mandatory requirement of holding number for trade license which is also causing revenue loss to the government.”
