Jamshedpur: A day after Rs 32 lakh was looted in broad-day-light at Bistupur, traders staged a 'dharna' in Bistupur market on Tuesday, demanding detection of the criminals within 72 hours.
Worried over the deteriorating law and order situation in the city, the traders who assembled under the banner of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) near Chhaganlal Dayaljee Jewellers' showroom in Bistupur today have declared that they will be compelled to give a call for Jamshedpur bandh if the police fail to detect the loot case within the stipulated 72 hours period.
The SCCI president Vijay Anand Mooka while criticising the poor performance of the police said till recently the criminals used to break open residential houses and shops for stealing valuables and cash, but now they have started committing loot in broad-day-light.
"The way armed criminals looted Rs 32 lakh from near the Canera Bank at Bistupur during busy hours on Monday, the traders community has been frightened. Now it seems going over to deposit cash to a nearest bank is not even safe," said Moonka while talking to the newsmen.
