Dhanbad: Aiming to ensure early diagnosis of disability in kids particularly hearing disability, to initiate early intervention for improved trajectory, Jeevan Jyoti School, Dhanbad, a special school for mentally and physically challenged children, organized a training cum awareness programme for the Anganwadi workers (Sevika).
The day-long training-cum-awareness programme organized in association with Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (AYJNISHD), Mumbai will be followed by hearing aid distribution among the needy children, tomorrow.
Talking to The Telegraph Online, Dr P Mazumdar, Social Welfare officer, AYSJNISHD who led a three-member team comprising audiologist, P Dutta and All India Coordinator for Disability helpline Samir Ghosh, said “Besides sharing the benefits and techniques of early identification of disability among children we also conducted an awareness programme on prevention of marriages amongst close relatives.”
On maintaining good ear hygiene he said, “Besides keeping the ears clean and free from dust one should avoid cleaning the ear with pointed objects like matchsticks as it ruptures the eardrum or injures the ear canal.” He asked his audience to refrain from pouring oil into the ear.
“As part of programme titled Assistance for Disabled persons, scheduled tomorrow we would be distributing Behind The Ear (BTE)hearing aids for the hearing impaired children and other persons whose family income is less than RS 15000 per month,” said Mazumdar and added that they have the target of distributing 150 BTE hearing aids among the children.

Dhanbad: Intending to develop an industrial manufacturing cluster or industrials manufacturing node in Bokaro over 1000 acres of land belonging to the Steel Authority of India Limited, a five-membered joint committee led by Jitendra Kumar Singh, State Industry Director of Jharkhand inspected the Bokaro site yesterday.
The committee was accompanied by Kuldeep Chaudhary, Bokaro Deputy Commissioner; Kirti Shree, regional director, Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA); Sadat Anwar and representative of Bokaro Steel Limited. The team will now prepare a survey report which shall be submitted to the state government.
Notably, Industrial Manufacturing cluster of Bokaro has been planned as part of Amritsar Delhi-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (ADKIC), spanning over seven states of the country including , Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand and Bengal. The cities to be covered under ADKIC project that will be developed along the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor of 1839 kilometers, include, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Delhi, Ludhiana, Ambala, Saharnpur, Roorkee, Dehradun, Haridwar, Meerut, Mujaffarnagar, Bareilley, Aligarh, Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Gaya, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Asansol, Durgapur, Burdwan and Kolkata.
The ambitious project is intended to bring major expansion of infrastructure and industry in 20 cities of seven selected states which needs a major push for industrialization and job creation.
Sadat Anwar, Additional Collector of Bokaro who accompanied the team during the land survey said, “Though we have carried out a survey of around 500 acres of land available in Bhatua area of Bokaro yesterday owned by BSL but the land is insufficient as we require around 1000 acres of land at one place and BSL has been asked to get the extended land.”
