Dhanbad: Unidentified criminals dressed as policemen looted cash worth Rs 4.5 lakh from two collection agents of a private finance company in the Latani area of Purbi Tundi block of the coal town.

The incident was highlighted when two victims - Vishnu Kumar Mandal and Deepak Kumar Chaudhary reached at Barwaddah police station and lodged a case against unidentified robbers.

One of the victims, Vishnu Kumar Mandal was heading towards Govindpur, with his co-worker when five persons dressed as cops, apprehended them on charges of cyber crime. They took them into their SUV, saying that they would be interrogated at Govindpur Police station. However, they were taken to Latani Village of Tundi on Govindpur Sahebganj Road, where the accused snatched Rs 4.5 lakh at gunpoint.

Govindpur DSP, Amar Kumar Pandey,said, “We have lodged an FIR against unidentified persons. We are probing all angles as the story narrated by the collection agents seems slightly suspicious.”

Dhanbad: Around 30 special kids, aged between 15 to 18 years were administered the first dose of Covaxin during a special vaccination drive organized by district administration. All were students of Jeevan Jyoti School, a school for special students operated by Inner Wheel Club.

Parents accompanying these students were apprised about post-vaccination side effects of the vaccine like fever, body ache and headache.

Rajiv Goyal, President of Rotary Club,Dhanbad, said, “Vaccination and covid protocol observance are the two key ways to protect ourselves against Covid.”

Dr Vikash Rana, assured that the second dose would be administered on time as scheduled, at the school campus.

“As the special students face difficulty in reaching the regular centres being operated by the district administration. Hence, we have organized this camp in their school itself.”

Joydeep Chaudhary, father of an autistic student Sirus Aditya Chaudhary (17) who was vaccinated during the camp, said, “We were slightly concerned about the safety of our son. We are a bit relaxed as he got jabbed today.”

Ranjeet Kumar, speech therapist-cum-special educator of the school said, “Around 70 students out of the 123 enrolled with us have been vaccinated.”
