Jamshedpur: A group of 20 cops on Sunday were given Basic Life Support training for those on the verge of death at any public place.
The training was given at the behest of a Mango-based superspeciality hospital keeping in view the instances of persons dying without getting the necessary basic life support like providing cardiac pulmonary respiration (PCR).
The basic life support training was imparted by a team of five doctors at the multi-purpose conference hall on the Bistupur thana premises on Sunday afternoon.
On this occasion, the doctors' team used a human being's plastic model for making the cops learn how to provide CPR to a dying person.
"The main purpose behind the training is to resuscitate a person who is unconscious or on the verge of death. And the policemen were given the training because it is the cops who have to respond first in any such adversity," said superintendent of police City) Subhash Chandra Jat while talking to The Telegraph Online.
Jat pointed out that the management of the city-based Bramhananda Narayana Superspeciality Hospital had asked the police department to hold such a training programme and they responded positively. Jat added that basic life support can be given not only to drowning victims but also to accident or assault victims.
