A 15-year old boy working as a labourer in stone mines was killed this afternoon after being hit by a Police Control Room mobile team of Dhanbad near East India More near the border of Nirsa and Govindpur block on National Highway -2.
Local residents and family members of the deceased, Pintu Bhuian who rushed to site after getting information about the incident blocked East India of National Highway -2 for more than two hours protesting against the death.
A joint team of Nirsa and Govindpur police led by Govindpur DSP, Amar Kumar Pandey which reached the site held discussions with over 200 protesters led by former Nirsa MLA, Arup Chatterjee who were demanding compensation for the family members of the deceased after which the protestors withdrew from the site.
Notably, the stone laden tractor was heading from Belchadhi of Nirsa to Govindpur and a PCR van spotted the vehicle and started following it. The driver first tried to escape by increasing the speed of the tractor but later after realising that he may not match the speed of the van, suddenly applied the brake and tried to escape on foot due to which the tractors overturned.
Pintu Bhuin who was in the tractor also jumped and was hit by the PCR van coming in high speed and died on spot.
