Jharkhand mining secretary Pooja Singhal sent to four-day ED remand

High level probe on against politicians; officers linked to corruption, says Union Minister

Jharkhand court sends suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal to four-day ED remand from May 17, reports Hindustan Times.

Enforcement Directorate's lawyer on Monday said that suspended Jharkhand mining secretary Pooja Singhal's and CA Suman Kumar's 4-day ED remand begins tomorrow, May 16.

Further he said, "Data has been collected from digital devices & they'll be confronted with it. So, they've been taken under ED remand."

On Sunday, ED questioned Ravi Kejriwal, the former Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) treasurer in the fraud case.

He was summoned to join the probe following which he appeared before the ED officials at the zonal office in Ranchi.

Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey Monday said a high level investigation is on against several politicians and government officers who are allegedly linked to corruption in Jharkhand and the Centre will conitnue its "jihad" against such acts wherever required.

Singhal, the mining secretary in Jharkhand, was dismissed from her post soon after her arrest in the matter.

Pooja Singhal had served as the deputy commissioner of the district between 2009 and 2010. According to news agency PTI, Sinha said that he paid five per cent commission out of the defrauded funds to the Khunti administration.

The Jharkhand IAS officer was arrested following raids by the ED in several locations across four states. During the operation, the agency reportedly seized over 17 crore from the residence of Singhal's chartered accountant Suman Kumar.
