Dhanbad: A team of Juvenile Justice Committee of Jharkhand High Court led by its chairperson, Justice Sachidanand Tripathi on Saturday inspected, the Bhuda-based Child Reformatory of Jharkhand Welfare Department and took stock of facilities as well as its requirements.

The committee members who were accompanied by Ram Sharma, principal district and session judge of Dhanbad; Sandeep Singh; deputy commissioner; Sanjeev Kumar, senior superintendent of police and Prem Kumar Tiwari, sub divisional officer, also interacted with over 40 inmates the reformatory and took feedbacks about the facilities.

He also exhorted them to bring changes in them and try to reform them and emerge as responsible citizens of the country and so that they begin a new life after coming out of the reformatory.

Tripathi said, “Though, we were aware of the developments of the child reformatory of Dhanbad since long we wanted to physically inspect the reformatory in order to take stock of existing facilities as well as welfare measures being implemented by the administration etc so we carried out the inspection today”

“The reform measures among the inmates taken at the initiative of reformatory’s in charge Colonel (retd), JK Singh are quite innovative and have far reaching impact on the delinquents here” elaborated Tripathi and added that there are some shortcomings also which they came to know during their inspection.

Dhanbad: Former General Manager (environment) of BCCL, EVR Raju (62) who is currently working as Domain Expert in the Sustainable Development Cell (SDC) of Ministry of Coal of Government of India has been appointed as expert member (Industry sector) of the ministry of Environment, Forest and climate change for a period of three years.

Raju a native resident of Andhra Pradesh, retired from the post of General Manager (Environment) of BCCL in 2019 and is expected to take charge of post in a day or two.

He said, “The expert appraisal committee (Industry 1) will scrutinise the proposal for determining terms of reference (TOR) for undertaking detailed Environment Impact Assessment study and undertake site inspection”.

“The committee of 13 other members besides me will also scrutinize the environmental impacts and examine the environmental management plans prepared and submitted by the project authorities as per TORs,” said Raju.
