Dhanbad: Former Animal Husbandry Minister, Mannan Mullick, on Monday joined the ongoing campaign of veteran Congressmen of the district for revival of the historic office of the party in Dhanbad which is lying closed since 2011.

Mullick, who sat on a dharna front of the district office of the Congress along with septuagenarian Congressman, Anil Pandey, Ravindra Singh and Prakash Sharma, said, “The office which is lying in shambles at present should immediately open and ministers of Congress should show some strong will power to open the office.”

The dharna during which some youth Congressmen were also present later culminated into a meeting during which the participants decided to hold a peaceful dharna at Madhuban in Katras on February 20 to press for their demand for the revival of office.

Meanwhile, some youth Congressmen who participated in the dharna later turned berserk, and one of them Manoj Kumar Singh tried to forcibly open the door.

Talking to the media after the incident Singh said, “Our sentiments are attached with the office and I am ready to face jail term in order to regain the office of the party,” and added that with passage of time the office building has turned into a ruin.

Banna Gupta, Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare of the state who visited the district to conduct a review of the ongoing development schemes, while responding to queries about the campaign being launched by the Congressmen said, “We are aware about the sentiments of our party workers and will take the step for the revival of party office after carrying out study of the court order.”

Notably altogether 84 institutions situated on Dhanbad district board land like district Congress office, BSS Women's College, IMA office, District Football Association officer, Union Club were closed in 2011 as per the instructions of High court on the writ petition filed by one Suresh for their commercial use despite being provided on subsidized rate for use for non commercial purposes.

Though several of these institutions like Union Club, City Style Market, BSS Women’s College and Union Club market reopened one by one after the individual petitions filed by their respective management, others like Congress office, IMA Building etc are still closed.

The Congress office at present is temporarily being operated from a house in Housing Colony locality of Dhanbad.

Indian Grey Wolf caught on DSLR Camera

Dhanbad: Mukul Mukherjee (40) a Bokaro based wildlife photographer has recently captured the images of Indian grey wolf for the first time in the DSLR Camera in The wolf sanctuary of Mahuadanr, a village panchayat of Latehar district in Palamau Tiger Reserve.

An MBA from Cardiff University, United Kingdom and an Electrical & Electronics Engineer who turned into Wildlife Photographer due to his childhood interest, Mukherjee shot the photographs of the Grey Wolf during his week long recent visit on the invitation of the forest department.

Mukherjee, who has been appointed as the Wildlife Photography Consultant by Rajiv Ranjan, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Wildlife & Chief Wildlife Warden, Jharkhand for Jharkhand Tourism to capture the wilderness in the Wildlife Sanctuaries and National Parks of Jharkhand said, “Mahuadanr, around 180 kms from Ranchi is the only declared Wolf Sanctuary in Asia and it has been his long time dream to capture the Indian Grey Wolf.”

“Wildlife is very much diversified here and is a home to numerous mammals like leopards, Wolves, Hynas, Sloth Bears, Jackals, foxes etc” said Mukherjee and added that many varieties of birds are also found here.
