Congress holds Chintan Shivir to envisage road map

Party workers exhorted to adhere to common minimum programme

The three day state level conclave of Congress party, titled Chintan Shivir, which began on Sunday at Madhuban at Parasnath area of Giridih discussed a whole lot of issues including the role of the party in the state government and also the strategy for 2024 assembly and parliamentary elections.

The meeting during which representatives of the party from all 24 districts of the state were present besides state in charge of the party, Avinash Pande and others discussed pros and cons of fighting the next election in the state either independently or as part of alliance.

He further said that the common minimum programme for the alliance government would also be decided during the day of the same meeting. “We will also decide on the 100 day programme of the party during the last day of the meeting," said Pande and added that they would further decide their role in the government in the coming days.

“We will also decide during the meeting on which issues we will compromise with alliance partners in the government and on which no compromise is not possible," added Pande.

The conclave inaugurated this morning by the state president of Congress, Rajesh Thakur also discussed the possibility of constituting a coordination committee at the government level between alliance partners

The honour and respect of the common party workers working selflessly since years will also have to be kept in consideration while discussing the further plans including the strategy for the next assembly and parliamentary election scheduled in 2024.

He further exhorted the party workers to point out the shortcomings in the decision being taken by the party during the meeting.

Senior party leader, Sukhdev Bhagat who also took part in the conclave said that the Congress party is on strong footing in Jharkhand. "In order to further strengthen the party in other parts of the state we will discuss the ongoing activities in the state," he added.

Former Union Textile minister, Subodh Kant Sahay who was also present during the meeting said, "Ever since the creation of Jharkhand, a comprehensive meeting of the party workers could not take place and we are here to discuss relevant issues."

On differences between JMM and Congress over governance, he said, “Both of us fought elections on different manifestos but joining hands for governance, we will have to adhere to a common minimum programme.”
