BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vijaya Rahatkar, here to campaign for the fourth phase of polls, spoke on woman-friendly policies of her party to woo voters.
Countering charges that the government was unable to stop rapes, she said women’s sexual assault and harassment could be curbed through a many-pronged approach of stricter laws, social awareness and gender equality on every front, including family.
“The central government amended the Pocso Act to ensure probe ends within two months of filing a case. It ensured strict implementation of amended rules to create fear of the law among perpetrators,” claimed Rahatkar.
Extolling the feats of BJP-led governments in the Centre and state, she spoke of CM’s Sukanya and Kanyadan Yojanas, Sakhi Mandals, women’s self-help groups. Jharkhand is the only state where a woman can register land for Re 1 only, she pointed out.
“By 2022, we will try to ensure free education for girls from KG to PG,” she said.
