Jamshedpur land broker shot at in rivalry

A day after a 65-year-old pharmacy owner was shot at in Mango, a snack trader-cum-land broker took a bullet in Parsudih thana area on Sunday night.

Kishore Singh Sardar (35), a resident of Haludbani in Parsudih, was hit in the lower abdomen near Bawangora Chhath Ghat while he was walking with another man around 9.30pm.

Although he collapsed after being hit, he managed to call his friend Jitu Singh who rushed him to Tata Main Hospital. It’s not clear yet whether the person he was walking with fired at him or was it the handiwork of somebody else.

Kishore’s relatives said doctors were still operating upon him to take out the bullet.

DSP (law and order) Alok Ranjan, who had come to the hospital for taking the victim’s statement said, “It was a case of gang rivalry for gaining supremacy over the land business in Parsudih. Kishore was targeted because he was very close to prominent land broker Sanjeev Singh who was gunned down by the rival Dubraj Nag gang at adjoining Govindpur thana area two years ago.”

Ranjan said, “We have already detained Nag and two of his associates, but unless we get Kishore’s statement, we cannot arrest them.”

On Saturday night, medical shop owner Mohammed Sasim-ul Haque was shot on his left leg by one Shibu Baccha (26) at Azadnagar in Mango for refusing to pay extortion money. Baccha, who had extorted Rs 5,000 from him a year ago, was arested on Monday.

Cellphone cuffs

One Radhey Shyam (22) was arrested on Monday and sent Ghaghidih Central Jail for snatching one Pramod Kumar’s cellphone near Dimna Road under Ulidih thana area here on Saturday. Police have recovered the cellphone .

Thief arrested

One Rohit Gorai (27), who was absconding for the past five years after committing thefts in shops and residential houses in Bistupur locality, was arretsed on Monday. Police said Gorai, who used to work as a ragpicker in the day and steal at night, was involved in more than a dozen cases.
